Okay, so I went last night to The Griffin in Vauxhall for the first time.

I had no idea what it was like so it was voyage of discovery.

Anyway, my mate quickfind:death asked for my 'review' of the place.

I copy and paste - for your perusal.

Well it was a nice bar. I remember now where I'd heard about it before. A guy who was a barman and regular at the Retro Bar was promoted to bar manager of this place. He used to be on OUT a lot, although he's probably more on Thingbox (which I don't do) so he's definately taken that idea of "If I had my own bar, what would I do different".

So the music is very indie and duckie-esque. But at a very low volume. Lots of sofas and tables. Newspaper clippings on the wall from music mags. Some girl came around and asked if we wanted any records playing. Then came around later and offered us sweets out of a tub. I had some sherbert.

It was very quiet though. About 20 people. But that was fine. It wasn't a big place.

So its definately not one for a crazy night out. But a must if you want to go somewhere and talk to someone and relax. It'd be great for a date if the person wasn't into the gay scene.

So, yeah - good. And we'd definatley go back when were in that mood.
We used to go to a bar in Sloane Square which was quiet and had lots of tables and chairs, but they got taken over and played music (crap music) really loud and started doing karaoke every Saturday. So that put a stop to that.
