For many years, there has been a concerted effort to punish those who produce, distribute or download child pornography. There seems to be a consensus in society that this is a social harm that should be prevented or at least curtailed. However, there is now a bill before parliament which is designed to curtail adult pornography of a certain nature.

In the Bill, there are proposals to criminalise what is termed 'extreme pornography'. This covers arrange of acts including: An 'extreme image' is an image which depicts any of the following:-

(a) an act which threatens or appears to threaten a person's life,

(b) an act which results in or appears to result (or be likely to result) in serious injury to a person's anus, breasts or genitals,

(c) an act which involves or appears to involve sexual interference with a human corpse,

(d) a person performing or appearing to perform an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal,

where (in each case) any such act, person or animal depicted in the image is or appears to be real.

Importantly it includes acts which 'appear' or are made to look like the above acts. So for example, if someone had a stuffed animal that looked like a real one it might fall foul of the legislation.

A lot of gay pornography that is currently legal may soon become criminal under these provisions. Examples:-

(1) Images of fisting - as it depicts acts which could cause serious injury to a person' anus/vagina.

(2) Most S & M pornography - whips, people being tied up, etc.

(3) Simulated rapes - i.e. where actors are playing parts in a porn movie.

(4) Vampire related porn, etc.

Now like most guys, this extreme stuff does not do anything for me. However I wonder whether a lot of guys who are into this type of porn are aware that this material may soon be illegal. Also, most guys visit porn sites of some description, if you are on a porn site that contains this kind of material (e.g. X tube) you could be risking fnding yourself on a police database.

If you have been found to have downloaded you risk a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment and inclusion on the sex offender register.
