A topic from Gay Interest: Issues

A bit of background first
On Gaydar chat the Terence Higgins Trust has people who log on and offer help on STI's, safe sex, advice etc. They also make people aware of the free testing service offered at local gay man's project.

They log on using a distinctive name, Phace, and identify themselves as being there to help.

So that's the background and now my possible over-reaction. As Phace was leaving the room last night his comment was "All right you freak does anyone want anymore help before i head back to Mount Olympus."

I asked him if he didnt think his comment was inappropriate as he was supposed to be fostering a feeling of being approachable and that it was bad enough that people in general think we are freaks without someone in his position should not be using words like that.

He chose to ignore me and when I asked him to answer my question he said they don't exist.

I asked for the phone number of his boss and had a brief chat with one of his colleagues but he advised that should I wish to take it further I should phone during office hours.

Now I know that this role is not voluntary and is in fact paid and therefore I feel there should be more guidelines on whats appropriate and whats not.

So opinions please
