So I've been in touch with a local guy, online. Through various reasons, we've not met up yet - but had planned to this coming week.

We spoke last week about arranging it, but then I stopped hearing from him. He was posting messages about being 'smitten' with someone and I got the feeling he just wasn't bothered about setting it up, so I made other plans.

I sent a message to say I'd not be meeting up as planned, but hoped he was okay and to keep in touch. He wrote back and confirmed that he's been seeing a guy, become quite heavily 'smitten' and 'can't stop thinking about him'.

So I thought about it and told him that I'd made plans instead of our arrangement (due to not hearing from him) and that I thought it was great how he's found a guy, wished him well with it and told him that when the dust settled, to let me know.

I think he took this to mean I wanted to date him (or at least had a view to) and sent a 'Err, okay...' message to me.

My intention was not for expectation, but I didn't really want to go out for the first time with a guy who was pining for someone not there, checking their phone for him, etc. Just not a great scenario to meet a new guy under.

Am I putting too much expectation on this? Is it reasonable to not want to meet up with a guy who's "head over heels" into someone?

Your advice/opinions, please?
