Hmmm!

I'm really happy with a New Sculpture I've just completed and placed outside as Public Art in a corner area of the Housing Association Estate Cul-De-Sac where I live.

Previously this corner area was a pile of hardcore, weeds and brambles about 5 foot high, bits of an old car, 2 metal bins, a Tesco trolley etc., so I got 3 tons of gravel donated for free by a local builders merchant, a few bits and pieces of wood to make a sort of decking-corner, logs, stepping stones etc and made a bench as well.

I took all the scrap and weeeds, brambles etc to the recycling tip in my car - about 8 journeys over 2 days:-(

Also did a blue-green paint effect on the (rotting!) fence panels to disguise them till next year when they get replaced, got a few solar powered led lights, plum slate chipping, golden gravel and stuff.

I've probably spent about £30 myself on bits and pieces.

The pictures below shows various stages of the project...

Sculpture was made from an old fence panel found abandonned at the back of someones garden after they got new ones.

A sort of stonhengey effect! photo:627963 photo:627964 photo:627965 made from old tree branches that had naturally fell in the woods around the corner.

It's probably taken me about a week (40 hours) on and off to complete the project, which is to benefit everyone of the 22 flats on the small estate.

Not one person has commented, offered to help, shown an interest or even acknowledged my presence as I've been working on the project over the past 3 weeks.

Hmmm.

That's the sad bit.

I put the sculpture in place yesterday afternoon so that when people began coming home from work they'd see the final result, smile, point, wave, call it crap, compliment it, but nothing.

Don't even know why I'm posting this, just wanted to vent (a little!) show something that I made...dunno!?
