"Robert Mugabe's chief spin doctor has signalled that Zimbabwe is ready to bury decades of hostility towards Britain following the election of David Cameron."

"Moyo said last year's general election result in the UK created space for a shift in relations. "For one, we can all see that David Cameron is not as loquacious as [Gordon] Brown or, worse, Tony Blair. Definitely not. He's kept his views on Zimbabwe to himself."

"Asked for an honest assessment of Mugabe's weaknesses as a leader, Moyo replied: "Contrary to the public image, I think he's too tolerant of things and people. I always wish we could get him to sometimes be more decisive in dealing with misfits than he often is."

self appointed 'friends' can sometimes be rather embarrassing

Ouch!

I don't see praise from that man and that regime as necessarily welcome!

It is true that there must stil be(I'm guessing) a small number of white farmers attempting to make a living in the country that has stripped them of nearly all their resources - but we don't hear much about them now.

I'd be surprised if much is attempted by way of reconciliation until Mugabe is dead. David Cameron is probably being quiet on Zimbabwe because the Foreign Office advisers have run out of suggestions re what either he or William Hague can usefully say!
