baalhadadSat 15/03/08 20:07		Today there was apparently a protest in London against the Church of Scientology. They were protesting against perceived abuses of the Church, in particular their Tax-exempt status under British Law. They hold deep concern about the death of people in the care of the Church, and what they consider 'pseudo-scientific' medical treatments, and their history of suing and harassing of their critics. They are also concerned about the extent that they attempt to influence the politics of both Canada and the USA. They are also concerned about the conditions endured in SeaOrg, particularly those who take part in the Rehabilitation Project Force. As I understand it, one has to be very careful if one wishes to criticise the Church of Scientology because they are likely to sue. Glancing through some of these sites though makes me think that the protesters might have a point: http://www.exscientologykids.com/ http://www.xenu.net/ http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/ and this video: http://www.dailymotion.com/SA-Anonymous/video/7341208 Anonymous were once described by 'Fox News' as 'hackers on steroids' and are regularly referred to as terrorists by the Church of Scientology, and were compared by them to the Nazis and the KKK. I get the impression that Anonymous is merely a convenient label adopted by strangers concerned with Scientology's history. My elder Brother was at the protest today: he took these photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24717854@N06/2335870150/in/set-72157604122345128/ The protests are apparently quite fun; they bring together various Internet memes and so are rather bizarre; but the masks are also important as after the last protest, the Church of Scientology identified unmasked protesters, then publicised their identities on Youtube and threatened them with criminal liability (though this account on youtube has since been removed). So clearly, the Church of Scientology are not to be fucked with. Unless you wear a mask. Does anyone have any views about the Church of Scientology (though don't say anything libelous)? I think my opinion of them is really rather clear; I'm afraid I feel that they are a cult. Reading the above sites have made me feel that the Church is particularly dangerous in certain ways. Maybe if there are any Scientologists on here they can persuade me differently; I'd be interested in hearing any opinions. I'm usually rather open-minded when it comes to religion. But there seems to be many unanswered questions surrounding the Co$.

informer_ukSat 15/03/08 20:12		And any 'religion' that disguises it's promotional tours as 'free stress test', is cause for concern. Why aren't they more transparent?
