photoHello, thought I'd re-join OUT as I've kinda missed the old place! Was a member for a good three years but quit a coulple of years ago for various reasons or another. I live in Tooting with my fella, work as a technician in a London theatre. Looking to meet some new friends and get back into some kind of social scene!

So, Ive just spent the last two hours trying to find a wedding caterer for my wedding next year, and I'm beginning to realise just how much of a pain in the ass it is!

The wedding is in South East London next September and we have a budget of £30-£40 (max) per head for 100 people.

We'd desperately like to avoid the usual boring 'chicken and veg' option so many couples seem to go for and would really like to have canapes, gourmet pies, pudding and a load of cheese.

We've been in contact with PieMinister (who's menu looks bloody lovely), but they want to charge £55 pp plus cutlery, plates etc.

That seems quite expensive no?

So just wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to who to go to?

Have you got married recently and had some excellent food at a decent price?

Are you in fact a caterer yourself and would love to do my wedding??!

I and many of my friends have used and always been delighted with Scotts in Carshalton. I don't know off hand anyone who has used them for a wedding, but they have done lots of big birthday parties including my 40th.

Take a look at the following from page 27

Good luck with your plans.

We had a hog roast, which proved very popular. You have to make some kind of alternative provision for the veggies, and people who don't eat pork for religious reasons, but it is always a bit of a spectacle and tastes great!
