Independent outdoorsy bloke. Frequent visitor to the wilder bits of the UK + beyond for mountain biking, scrambling, climbing and trekking - you get the picture. Also plays tennis and runs regularly. Big on wildlife (birds are brilliant) and wilderness + happy to rough it in a bothy or wild-camp in the middle of nowhere. Has also been known to enjoy an arty film. Or two.

So I watched Glee for the first time last night (broadband was down + nowt else on). As a gayer I get the whole singing/dancing shebang + yes Sue is brilliantly written + played - but (you can see that bit coming) why are so many other gayers such big fans when it portrays the only gay as a limp-wristed bullied victim? Haven't things moved on just a tad even in the US? I mean they have positive disabled/Asian/black/Hispanic characters in the show so why can't the token gayer be the captain of the footie team rather than a battered and frightened stereotype? It's lazy and slack writing. And it's rubbish. |
