If you want to see something a bit different from the usual crowd pleasers I highly recommend Persepolis. For anyone who doesn't know it's a, primarily, black and white 2D animated feature (Oscar nominated) based on the life of Marjane Satrapi growing up in Iran and Venice between 1978 and the early 90s. Although it deals with a serious subject there is quite a bit of humour in the film and it has an excellent voice cast (Sean Penn, Catherine Deneuve, Iggy Pop and Gena Rowlands) |
