As there isn't a Forum for soundtracks in the Music section I decided to post this here.

I got the soundtrack to Hairspray this morning and it's really good. Although three of the original numbers (Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now; Big Doll House and Cooties) are not part of the soundtrack the new numbers (Ladies Choice; The New Girl In Town and Come So Far (Got So Far To Go)) are really good. All the cast are really good singers although I prefer the original Velma on the OBC singing (The Legend Of) Miss Baltimore Crabs to Michelle Pfeiffer.

John Travolta doesn't actually sing until the eighth number on the soundtrack but gets more to sing than Edna did on the OBC (but then John is a singer whereas Harvey Fierstein isn't a singer).

As bonus tracks we get a modern version of Cooties by someone called Aimee Allen and Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now by "The Tracys" as I call them (the song is performed by Rikki Lake from the original movie, Marissa Jaret Winokur from the original Broadway cast and Nikki Blonsky from the movie.

I love it. I saw the film last week and its fantastic. Will see it 50 times im sure.

Listen to the new version of Mama Im a big Girl Now and someone else very special, makes a very brief special appearance towards the end ;)
