Sorry if this is a repeat posting, but I couldn't find anything under the film title.

Has anyone seen the trailers for Roland Emmerich's 10,000 BC?

Looks very interesting...but can't imagine there would be much dialogue..

What do you think?

I watched the first trailer which had no dialogue and thought the film could be amazing.

I then watched the second trailer which has dialogue and now the film doesn't look so good. Is that Lindsey Lohan as well playing the female lead?

Just looked at IMdb and it isn't Lindsay Lohan. Thats a relief.

It looks like some of the most appalling shite Hollywood has ever churned out, if you ask me.

For kids who think the scenarios in Xbox games are true.

'For kids who think the scenarios in Xbox games are true.'

There is nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy, as long as you know thats what it is.

Some scenarios you get on the Xbox/PS3/PS2 can be quite imaginative, a lot better than most Hollywood films.

I think the only place to watch an Emmerich movie is on the big screen.

I might drag some poor victim along to watch it with me :)

My concern is that, with so many Hollywood films (Dan Brown tales incl), the under-educated gullible often seem to imagine there is some degree of historical accuracy underlying some part of the fantasy. To hear some interviews with American teenagers terrifies me - and I should imagine a lot of UK ones aren't that much smarter.

I think it's going to be very violent, too - Hm. Please don't take it as an objective truth that there's 'nothing wrong' with that, because I'm far from being the only person who believes it's not a good thing.

It looks fantastic. The kind of stuff that couldn't be made pre-CGI.

And I bet there's some nice bare arses in it.

I can understand what you are saying and agree with you to a certain extent but I don't think thats a good enough reason for not making a film like this. For every gullible person/teenager/child who may watch this film and see it as historically accurate, you may get someone else who will start tuning in to the History/Discovery channel or go to the library and pick up some books about archeology.

I think it would be a shame if filmmakers went into a project thinking, 'What would the gullible make of this film? How could we protect the uneducated from mistaking a good yarn for a documentary.'

Well, I know you're right and that balance is called for.
But I wish that, if they did it, they could do it better! The budgets they have, after all....
