AS someone who has suffered from Social anxiety for many years and trying to get rid of it I decided to drag myself away from Bristol for the day and Join the Chelsea walk.
I thought it would be a good way to try and overcome the anxiety, How very wrong I was, I plucked up the courage to find the organizer and introduce myself as that's the right thing to do on a first event, Not even a welcome !.
The walk was good and as someone who once lived in the area it was interesting.
Was surprised when we ended up at the first gay pub I went into in 1967 'The Queens Head'. As there were a few of the group going in I thought at least there'll be some new faces to get to know, 'Wrong Again' they sat in their own groups leaving me to sit away from others,I honestly felt like an outcast!!. Organizer please take note.
thank goodness the bar staff were friendly

So sorry this is what you thought. My own experience was different. I chatted to several guys I had never met before on the walk - a year since my first walk with this group. There were certainly a lot of us - about 50, I'd say. At the pub I latched myself onto the same table as 3 or 4 others and a few more joined us. We had a lively conversation across all sorts of topics. On my way out I saw a number of other small groups of Outers all chatting happily.

We must make sure everyone feels included. It doesn't take much and we should definitely make the effort. Thank you for bringing it to my attention, Roy. I'll certainly be more vigilant next time and I'm sure others will be, too.
