Well not quite an OUT event, but one attended by 14 (ex)OUTers.

Ian Mansfield, formerly Geeky of this parish, finally had one of his visits come to fruition yesterday, and after a quick look around the 'Roman' baths in Strand Lane, behind Kings College, 14 of us had a rare trip to tour the long since disused Aldwych Station yesterday.

Many will remember Aldwych station as being the end of the Piccadilly Line spur from Holborn, which closed in 1994, although it continues to be used for tv and film work.

The tour lasted over 90 minutes, and enabled us to see the old platform, and the second platform which has been out of service for over 90 years. Whilst we were allowed to freely take photos, it was conditional upon them being for personal use, and no publication even on sites like this or Facebook is permitted. I guess they are for private viewing only.

Glad you enjoyed the tour, although it's a shame you can't publish the photos :-/

Good to hear Geeky is still organising his events - the ones of his I attended here were easily among the very best I've ever attended. 'tis a big shame he deleted from OUT, he is still a big loss to the site :-(

(Indeed, it is entirely thanks to Ian that I ever got up the courage to start attending events at all)
