The Natural History Museum is opening two new exhibitions later this year.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year opens on Friday 31/10/08 and Darwin opens on Friday 14/11/08.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the world's leading wildlife photographic exhibition, with over 60,000 entries received annually. These are narrowed down by a panel of judges and the best of the entries are displayed within the exhibition. Each year the quality is excellent with some stunning photos from people of all ages.

This is a very popular exhibition and we are holding a private preview on the evening of Thursday 30/10/2008 for Museum members. I always open this up to OUTers to come along and enjoy the exhibition before it opens to the general public.

Darwin is the most comprehensive Darwin exhibition ever produced. Illuminating the life of the iconic naturalist, geologist and thinker, it will uncover Darwin's extraordinary ideas on evolution by natural selection – a critical turning point for science and culture. These ideas continue to be revolutionary more than a century after the publication of his famous work, On the Origin of Species, in 1859.

The exhibition forms part of Darwin200, a national programme celebrating Charles Darwin's life, his ideas and their impact around his two hundredth birthday. There are celebrations as part of the season all over the country.

As with the Wildlife Exhibition we are holding a private preview the day before it opens on the evening of Thursday 13/11/08.

Both previews start at 7.00pm and finishes at 9.30pm. You can come along at anytime during those hours, but you shouldn't arrive too late or you'll not get the chance to see the exhibitions properly.

I'll be setting the events up soon.

If you'd like to get an invite, tick the next two postings to let me know which one you'd like to attend. You can come to both!

Tell me about it, literally flying by at the moment, just wish the sun would come out to play a little more.
