How much are you prepared to pay to save the planet?

The Lib Dems are making some radical proposals to save the planet. These include a ban on all petrol cars by 2040. A £2000 top road tax band for those in the current top tax band. A tax on all air transport levied on aircraft companies and not per passenger as currently (along with the Tories). A further proposal to raise the tax on all road freight is also included.

The Tories plan to introduce parking charges to out of town stores, add VAT to domestic flights and increase costs to less green homes.

Labour still has proposals for congestion charging to many towns and cities plus a road use tax. They will be increasing the max VED to £400

Again, this seems to me expecting the poorest to pay the most to save the planet or, if 'pay' is not the correct word then 'suffer' certainly is.

The price of everything would increase as road haulage and air freight companies pass the tax on to the consumer as this is historically what happens with such taxes.

Many motorists will be forced to scrap cars made virtually worthless by higher taxation so those with larger families will lose out. The least able to afford adaptations to their homes to make them green will pay more.

Do you agree with these proposals or can you think of a way to make the planet more healthy without penalising the poorest the most?

I dont agree with this argument about it putting things out of the reach of the poor, cheap air travel means the rich holiday 3 or 4 times a year.

Cars NEED to be very expensive, in real terms they are very expensive , this should be reflected in economic terms.

we live in a false economy based on a whack principle of perpetual growth, which is not possible, shuld we tarmac over whats left of the country to make room for all the cars, or should we make it that one car per household is all we can afford?, i know which i want.
