"Plans to construct one of Europe's largest onshore wind farms has been refused by the Scottish Government.

It said Lewis Wind Power's (LWP) 181-turbines for Lewis on the Western Isles did not comply with European law protecting sensitive environments.

The scheme had the backing of the local authority and business, but attracted almost 11,000 objections. "

Thank goodness people seem to be realising that massive wind turbines all over the countryside aren't environmentally sound.

In the case of the Western Isles, it was totally the wrong location.
You can't on the one hand classify somewhere as a "Special Protection Area" and then built 181 turbines on the site.

I think the off shore ones are cool though. But I don't know about their environmental impact.
