This is a very important story for people to read, just another tactic in the 20 year long fight by the oil industry to try and confuse people about the state of the scientific understanding of what causes climate change.

If you want to learn more about what the oil companies have done and are still doing and how they are influencing what you read in the papers, you should read what I consider to be one of the most important books ive ever read:-

Boiling Point by Ross Gelbspan

and/or

The Carbon War by Jeremy Leggett

There is a small newsnight package on Youtube (search for 'Royal Society')

and a cover of Newsweek magazine on how oil companies are influencing the reporting of the issue
