It's not every day that an actor/someone in the public eye remains quiet about an illness they're fighting against, or rumours being spread about them. But Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon revealed on Good Morning America yesterday that she had breast cancer two years ago. Could that possibly explain why it took so long to get the movie off the ground?

Thankfully the cancer was successfully removed and after undergoing therapy, Nixon is fully recovered.

"I didn't want to make it public while I was going through it." said Nixon.

The 42-year old actress' mom overcame two bouts of cancer, and Nixon adds:

"As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, knowing my personal risk made me more aware and more empowered when I faced my own diagnosis."

Good on her!
