Help! Bitter Rice, anyone?

I enjoy the company of sound friends, witty conversation and an occasional nice glass of red! Loads of interests and an open and fair mind. I'm not particularly comfortable on the scene... hence don't get seen! Looking forward to adding more friends to those that I have made through this site. bobitTue 05/06/07 12:27		There's an old classic Italian movie (1948) that I'd love to get my hands on called 'Riso Amaro' (Bitter Rice) - it stars Silvana Mangano. A significant piece of film history for lots of reasons ... and I can think of worse things than spend an hour and a half watching the gorgeous Silvana ... ahhh.... I don't want the English dubbed version - but English subtitles would be a good option but not essential. I've searched about the internet for a couple of days - checking out Italian sites too but not with much success... There's a copy for sale by Amazon.com (ie in the USA) and selling for $129 plus postage. Now, I'm keen to get this movie ... but do I really have to consider it at this price?? Ebay have a copies for sale from China/Singapore - but being picky - I'd rather not have that cover/artwork... is this Uber-fussy?? Any other ideas, anyone?

ragingwhoremoansTue 05/06/07 12:38		It's probably the case that (unless you're willing to pay that kind of money for it) you'll have to wait for a re-release, and hope it won't take too long. Or it's possible that there might be a website out there somewhere you can obtain a DVD-r copy of it from.
bobitTue 05/06/07 12:40		Well - the DVD was released round about 2005 ... I'm not sure the film made English cinemas - but there is a an English dubbed version - so I'm guessing there probably was... http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=21944 I'm happy to take any long shot!
