photoEvening fella, and thanks for stopping by. I'll put a better pic on here when I get more handsome, and a wittier, more interesting intro once I've annihilated a few more brain cells.

Sorry for posting this late - the programme started at 8pm - I picked it up whilst driving in the car.

It's talking about the first few diagnosed cases of the rare cancer in America in 1980 through to the current situation in the UK now.

Listening to the coverage of the early years of the disease make me think about how scary a situation this must have been - particularly as it was only 16 years after gay sex was decriminalised, and now gay men were being persecuted again, and it took some very sad cases of hemophiliacs to make the world realise it wasn't a gay exclusive disease.

I was only a young boy in the early 80's but I do remember the tombstone adverts, but now I'm realising just how terrible a time it really was - for all sorts of reasons.

Actually, this should be available on iPlayer after - it's "Archive on 4 - Mystery in the Village"

Listening to the interviews with quie remarkable people involved at the time - and some still enjoying life now - is really very though provoking.

It's also making me appreciate how fortunate I am to be living now.
