damfinoTue 08/01/08 11:35		So its okay for the fanboys god to be, but not Chris Moyles... Yes, but Bill Hartnell came from a generation where that was the norm. Moyles is from our generation and consequently has no excuse.
artyladTue 08/01/08 11:59		I'm not supporting Moyles, I think he's a walking ego, but I love the way how because its Dr Who related its beyond criticism. Racism, slavery, publing hanging, were all the norm once, didn't make them acceptable back then or now. The original series began back in the early 60's, when we were still illegal. I'm sure had Out been around in those days we would have been bleating on about how it, and the general perception of us was wrong.

The fact that it's Doctor Who related has nothing to do with it! We're talking about a man who born a hundred years ago, when homophobia was the norm and that's the way he was taught to be. You can bleat as much as you like about homophobia being unacceptable, but you do so from living in a time when we're all that bit more enlightened. Nowadays we know it's unacceptable. A hundred years ago they didn't. If David Tennant started being homophobic, I don't think any gay Who fan would be as understanding.
