photoThe best or worst half of a couple (me53/partner 37), depending on your perspective. Looking for friends only, for socialising at home or out, for coffee, a meal, cinema or just a stroll along the proml. Been here almost 3 years and still short on friends that aren't only interested in going to the pubs/club. Good friends are amongst the most important things in life.

Sorry to those that vavigated here, thinking it was something completely different. Just go on your way please. lol

I'm about to start stripping back an old tongue and groove floor in a 1920s house. I intend hiring a machine and I have already hammered in the nails, to prevent ripping the sandpaper on the machine.

I've had two different pieces of advice when it comes to filling the joints between the tongue and groove planks, and I'm unsure which to take on board. Some joints are wide, but most are only very small. Some have said use silicone, as it gives slightly - but this concerns me, as I intend staining and varnishing afterwards, and the silicone may prevent the stain taking.

Another source told me to use papemache soaked in wallpaper paste, pushed into the cracks, then left to dry, before sanding. This is apparently an old remedy from Victorian times. Has anyone tried this method?

Or do you have a better idea?
