I enjoy the company of sound friends, witty conversation and an occasional nice glass of red! Loads of interests and an open and fair mind. I'm not particularly comfortable on the scene... hence don't get seen! Looking forward to adding more friends to those that I have made through this site. Go on - say hello, I don't bite... and I'll say hello back :)

I'm currently trying to sort my life out in SO many ways - and am happily working through mountains od paperwork ... the shredder's never worked so hard!

I though Tallulah was chewing on an old boot lace I'd given her, but a sudden yelp, a jump and the sound of sizzling and popping and I realise the little tyke's been chewing the mains lead for the shredder!!

I've changed plugs before - so happy to shorten the lead and put the plug on - but

!. is there any way of resusing the moulded plug that the shredder came attached to

2. - it seems like there are only 2 wires - brown and blue ... I've only wired plugs with three wires before - is there anything I should know??

A bit like aromatherapy - Electricity is something that I don't really understand but am happy to respect and use!

The moulded one needs to be binned.

Get another plug and fit that one in.

Some devices don't heave earthing because they're deemed to be properly insulated, so make sure you plug the live and neutral wire in the right place and don't worry about the absence of the earth wire. :)

(Disclaimer: I am not a qualified electrician, if you have any doubts about what you're doing then get a professional to do it for you) <--- Sad, isn't it?

Thanks guys!! I *knew* OUT would save the day!!

Yes - Tallulah's fine, thanks - she had a funny quizzical look about her - I got a tiny shock from the wire too - so i'm guessing she wasn't too damaged by it!

Right I'm off to canibalise another appliance for a replacement plug!
