I am moody, grumpy, have grey hair coming through, one little toe is the same size as the big one, and I am often reduced to a whining ball of immaturity

Well, slap my thighs and call me Rosie. Last week was not what either Michael, Thomas or myself expected from a soiree of gay linedancing (is there really any another kind?)

We were present among strangers, whose average age and weight, we feared, might be approaching three figures but there were younger members of a small but bewildered crowd in Vauxhall.

This particular evening brought into my world, for one evening only, a flirty barman called Paul, in his late 30s, who seemed to cause a significant amount of drooling; His identically-clothed boyfriend from the beautiful romantic dating website that is Gaydar; Thor, or so he said his name was, whom Tom appeared to converse with for a significant length of time. About 34 seconds so looks like we have a civil partnership on our hands!; a toothless middle-aged Somalian, a young Chinese guy and a fit and able 60-something with a white moustache and matching pony tail.

As for the dancing, we tried. We did. The beer helped a little but not our coordination. We tried the Merimba, which was a 34-step program to complete humiliation and a trip to the chiropodist. If I am gonna spin round and round, shuffle from feet to feet like its Twister for Twinkies, I am grateful that Michael-without-his-Fedora and Tom-without-his-coordination were there too to share in it. There are some shots of Tom and White Beard Man and Michael and his Hairy Men in a couples dance. I was both relieved and disappointed not to have been asked/dragged up! Pathetic! Talk about achy breaky heart. I think mine did.

Still, I felt all yee ha enough to get over it. Next week, it's salsa. It is the only way.

I recommend these groups!
