I heard a rumour that the US Federal Reserve is actually some kind of huge big mysterious private bank and that nobody really knows who owns it. The theory then goes that it provides money to the US economy but that it does so 'at interest' - in other words, when the US needs a load of bank notes printing, the Fed does it, adds a bit, and loans that money to the US. |
