They are the shortlists for the International Booker in 2005 and 2007. It's awarded for a body of work, not just a book and is open to any author whose works are published in English.

Anyone familiar with the Booker will note that a lot of the names are booker favourites. Is this award sufficiently different from the Booker to make it a worthwhile prize?

Some people may argue that the Booker is sometimes awarded for a body of work anyway - I wondered that after reading The Sea by John Banville. And Rushdie won the Booker of Bookers award for Midnight's Children in the 21st (?) anniversary year.

Another thing to note is the number of names re-appearing in the shortlist - I calculate 4, including the wonderful Margaret Attwood. Is this to become a feature? People being shortlisted every 2 years until they win, or die (like the now departed Muriel Spark)?

What do others think? I think it's a noble concept but not sure it's a necessary prize in addition to various national and international awards at present.
