OK, dramatic title just to get your attention, it WAS true, but they couldn't take any money out as that particular account had just £4.12 in it!

Long story but I'll do the short version here and I want to share some info with EVERYONE on OUT as what happened to me for me to get HACKED has surprised me as I'm so up to date with things like security, password protection, spoof sites etc etc.

I got hacked by someone in Canada after they installed something called a KEYSTROKE LOGGER on my PC - and which I probably allowed to install without even realising it was a risk.

Keystroke Loggers do just that - they keep a log or record of every single key you hit for as long as the software is on your PC.

SO, they knew all my usernames, passwords etc not just to my £4 Bank Account but to 2 others, 3 eBay accounts, 4 YouTube accounts and possibly my PayPal accunt too.

Anyway, I changed all the usernames where I could, changed passwords and personal info and now I feel everything is OK and I was lucky.

How I found and DELETED the keystroke logger and a ton of other malware, spyware, trojans etc was by using these 2 FREE Utilities downloadable from the INternet and recommended by the Security Dept at one of my Banks:

Download and run two programmes called :

SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

and

MALWAREBYTES (Free - click on Download, NOT Buy Now)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Both are excellent and FREE to download and use and will find things that your Anti Virus will not such as keystroke loggers, spyware, malware and trojans etc.

I thought I was 100% protected by my Anti Virus and Firewalls and you probably feel the same.

I'd be really interested to see what you guys find (and it WILL find stuff you didn't know you had no doubt!) and perhaps we can all share this information (just copy and paste) so more people get this knowledge and help to, in some small way stop our privacy and money being stolen.

I speak from experience as a nearly stolen :-(

The £4.12 account, just a few weeks earlier had almost £800 in it, it was just by chance that once I tot £800 I decided to put the money into a different account otherwise they'd have stolen it no doubt.
