photoI'm a single outgoing fun guy. I run my own graphics/web design business and its all going well so far. Doing a lot of painting too, see my links! Really want to meet some decent lads who are outdoor types and like walking, hiking and mountains. I'm also creative - love music and theatre, painting and photography. Not looking for 'virtual' online friendships but real ones.

Well, it's here, 17th June - the download day set with the release of Firefox 3, which they've been planning for ages to set a world record of downloads in 24 hours. It started at 6.00pm BST.

I have used Firefox since in came out, and have been using RC2 of Firefox 3, a brilliant browswer so enthusiastically signed up to www.sreadfirefox.com and ahve pledged to download it complete today, I've also passed it onto to family and friends....

I would have thought they'd therefore been set up for the huge demand on their servers ready for this world record attempt, mentioned all over the media including BBC Online - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7457503.stm

However, since 6.00pm I've tried repeatedly to get onto the spreadfirefox site and also the main Mozilla website but can't. Keeps timimg out. They can't cope. what a farce!

How do they expect to set a world record if they can't keep their servers running to cope with the expected and hoped for demand?

Has anyone else had any luck or had similar problems?

I'm personally not too bothered as of course I all but have the final release with RC2, and of course will eventually get the download or more likely now the update in a day or two (which won't count towards the record), but its still disappointing that they can't get their act together for this record attempt!
