photoGerman born and raised Teuto-Australian. Like to chat with people from anywhere. Travel a fair bit mixing business with pleasure. Keeping in touch with friends is important to me. Enjoy learning new things, meeting new people, experiencing foreign cultures. To the detriment of my waistline I like good and interesting food. I am politically aware and interested. My view on life is strongly influenced by humanistic ideals. A dreaming realist.

After gatting my first version of Dragon Speak (voice recognition program) some 10 years ago and giving up fairly soon, I have given it another trial.

Obvioulsy with the hope that both - me and the dragon - have learned a bit more in those 10 years.

After the first few hours of using the program I feel that both of us have learned a bit. But whether it's faster than the good old fingers doing the walking, I don't know yet.

Would be interested to know whether any of you guys/girls have any experience with voice recognition programs in general - dragon speak in particular -

We know this sort of system from some telephone services, like taxi booking or directory assistance where my results have usually been perfect crap.

Compared to that, this program seems to be quite advanced. Though I still have to teach it some Australian colloquial language. 'Bugger all' for example did not go down very well.

...gatting .... there you see, that's something which you can probably avoid using the system!!
