Basic Photoshop Help

Recently moved back to London but only during the week. Get to retrun to the peace and quiet of my home in North Wales at the weekend. Looking to make new friends in London to help keep me occupied - and to take my mind off the awful staff accomodation I am living in

fuzzybearThu 29/11/07 10:42		Hi - I am trying to create a home printable Christmas card, and I downloaded a photoshop template from the internet. (I also DL a trial of Photoshop) It is a very basic template, and all I want to do is drop a picture on the front and add some 'Merry Christmas' text in on the other side...can I do it? Can I bollocks. My friend and I spent 2 days trying to get it to 'work', but with no luck. Is there a kind soul who would mind looking at what we have done?
duncanThu 29/11/07 11:14		Whats happening? That sounds like a pretty straightforward thing to do with Photoshop - and something I've done myself in the past (or similar anyway). What I'd try is to open the template, then open the image (as two separate files). If you have the standard toolboxes open, you should have one that is the layers. Make sure the image is the selected file, and drag its "Background" layer to the template. That should drop the image on the template as a new layer (at least it has in the past when I've done it.....) Unfortunatly I'm at work, so have no access to Photoshop here... Dunno if that'll help in the slightest tho! The other option you have is to ignore the template, and just start from scratch - you can do all you want without the template.
#67513Thu 29/11/07 11:15		I don't have Photoshop at work unfortunately (only at home), but there should be people that can help out - this sort of task would only take you minutes if you had time to learn Photoshop, but I admit, it isn't the easiest thing to learn quickly without clear instructions. Hopefully someone can help out.
fuzzybearThu 29/11/07 16:58		Thanks Paul and Duncan really good of you to reply- Spent some more time this pm having a go at it...managed to get the picture on the front - ( not quite in the right place), but creating a new page to write the text is now the problem. If I ask really nicely do you think I could email the file for one of you to look it over? Or would I be completely taking the mickey? Mike
