Has anyone any experience of these?

My sister is looking for a new laptop, something small (smaller than the usual 15" that seems to be *everywhere*), but powerful enough to last her through the college course she's starting.

I had a look, and I did like the look of the XPS laptops (they seem reasonably good spec, and look good too....), however my only experience of Dell laptops have been the business ones we've got at work.

I was wondering:

1. If anyone had any plus or minus points to the Dell's
2. If anyone has an alternative - I'm looking for something with a 13.3" screen, Intel Core 2 (around the 2GHz mark), with as much HD and RAM as can be flung at it..... (and on this one, my sister will most certainly go for style over substance, so it has to look funky!)

I wouldn't touch a Dell with a barge pole!

Their customer support is very poor and their Laptops come with spyware installed in the form of Google desktop which IS spyware. If you try to remove Google Desktop it trashes Windows. And then their Manufacturer's restore disk doesn't bother with the drivers which you have to install with another HTML front-end disk which tells you it's installing the drivers and doesn't bother.

If she likes style over substance then look at Sony's sub-notebook offering. Or what about macBook Air for style and substance?
