A very popular Australian comedy team known as The Chaser had planned satirical commentary during the live coverage on the national broadcaster but their show was axed at the last minute after Clarence House and the BBC forbid the use of the footage in any comedy or satire show. |

I'm a republican, but it strikes me that its fairly standard to demand that programmes are transmitted without the commentary being edited. |

I'm not saying its a rule that is applied to every broadcast, but rather that it was my understanding that it is fairly common and in this case it was part of the standard licensing agreement. I might be wrong. |
