photoHi there... 33 year old guy living in Guildford, Surrey. Into music, walking/hiking, arts, food, pubs, politics, cars, jogging and stuff. More into long walks, theatre, trying something new in the kitchen, catching up with friends kind of guy than wild clubber. Been on out for a long time... great online community. If you don't recognise me it might be because I have just shorn my hair as of April 2011

Looked to see if anyone has started a thread for her latest release. I'm loving it- I'm so pleased she's made this album after her last album which was pretty mixed.

Its a song cycle, concerning a woman following a break up of a relationship, with lots of mythology thrown in. I can't say I find the narrative easy to follow, its typically dense Tori fairy stuff. But then again, I've never met anyone who understood the concept behind her beekeeper album.

What's so great about this album is that her voice and piano are to the fore, with strings and wind adding warmth and atmosphere. Her song writing is top notch with some stunningly beautiful tracks- your ghost/ edge of the moon are breathtaking... as is Carry, the album's closer. Job's coffin, cactus practice and the chase all sung with her daughter are a beautiful trio of simple, affecting songs.

This album really shows her talent and I wish more people appreciated her. But maybe its a good thing she doesn't really seem to give a damn about popularity and does things her own way.

Acknowledging the DG commission, I've filed under classical.
