I wonder how many of us watched this amazing concert on BBC4 or were fortunate enough to actually be in the RAH for the occasion on Sunday evening? I can't remember the last time I was so moved by listening to and watching music being performed with such excitement, joy and commitment. I think that possibly the realisation that many of these young people had suffered much deprivation in their own country lent the occasion a further dimension. Their amazing conductor Gustavo Dudamel had not a note of music in front of him and to conduct such a concert from memory was a considerable achievement. |
