photoSane, sorted and switched-on guy, enjoying life in Brighton. I run my own small business, perform as a stand-up comic and enjoy my garden. I live with my partner (who I met on Out many moons ago) and our dog. I'm as likely to be tending the garden as pounding a dance floor, or to be in a suit as in my leathers. Aren't contradictions wonderful?

My partner and I are heading to Lisbon for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Never been there before so wondering if anyone has any recommendations for things to do, places to go, places to eat etc?

there are actually tons of places - head for the Bairo Alto area of Lisbon where the huge night life exsists - everything is there from cool places to eat to gay night clubs all really nice - all of it is based in the Bairo Alto.

For other things such as sight seeing there is Sintra, and a bit cold this time of year but beaches are nice such as Cascais and Cost Da Caparica.... I guess anything else just ask

You can tell I lived there lol

Take a tram trip on route number 28 as it winds its way through the Alfama district of the capital.

The cute little yellow trams were built in the 19th century are very similar to san Francisco's street cars. They also handle Lisbon's steep hills like mountain goats. They are great fun.

The Alfama is the old moorish quarter of Lisbon. It is a labirynth of narrow streets and alleyways covering several hills.

For the daytime, I suggest getting one of the old trams, which is an experience in itself...

And get one of the modern trams to visit Belem just outside Lisbon.

We're staying in the Hotel Bairro Alto, so hopefully that'll be close to the gay venues - any you recommend? More interested in bars than clubs!

Catch the local train out to Belém to see the Torre de Belém, the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and the Monument to the Discoveries.

The Castelo de São Jorge in the Alfama district - great views to the rest of the city

The Calouste Gulbenkian foundation if you're into Museums

Parque das Nações – the Park of Nations - if you like modern architecture - Santiago Calatrava's Estação do Oriente is amazing

Enjoy - it's a lovely city
