A topic from Literature: Books for Children

This might be one of those odd-threads-that-gets-no-replies, but that's never frightened me before!

Does ANYONE remember doing Hey Mathematics books in primary school? They were colourful books that helped teach very basic maths; counting and simple arithmetic. You wrote in the books themselves.

The twist was that there was a sequence of books, each with a different animal (to start with) on the front, and they got harder as you did each one. Later in the sequence it got a bit spacey, with books like Rocket and Stars.

I can quite clearly remember being stuck on poxy poxy Giraffe, while most of the rest of the class was on Moon, or something like that. This is how inferiority complexes are born, and start to fester.

I don't think I've made this up, but I can't find any reference to this series online.

Anyone?

Nope, never heard of them, but do agree that schools can set inferiority complexes going great guns.
