Last night, I was on a train journey and was sat opposite Guy Richie, director and husband to the little-known pop-harlot, Madonna.

At first I didn't dare speak to him, but since it was such a long journey (seven hours) after a while I plucked up the courage and asked "When casting for a film, do you ever just pick people you like from movies you've enjoyed in the past - or does everyone get a fair audition". He told me that was quite a funny question because more and more he'd been hiring people who had made some impact on him in the past, from films he'd seen. He said he was looking to hire the kid from 'Kes' for his next move, but had trouble finding him.

I bought him a coffee and we had a really good chat, then I woke up.
