photoMan hears of the dragons invulnerable skin and lo, he makes armour, battleships, tanks! A fairy flies and, furiously jealous, man himself defies gravity with machines he will call airplanes. A magician looks into his crystal and sees and hears halfway across the world. 'Ah,' says man, 'if only it could be so.' And centuries from now he conjures up miracles, but calls them radio and television…

Fuck. Just got a diagnosis from the garage regaridng some(!) problems with my poor little car.

It looks like it's fast on its way out, and will need to be scrapped.

I'd like to take some time to remember the good times I had with it.

• The time quickfind:davesofthunder got too rough and snapped the sunroof handle clean off
• The time quickfind:davesofthunder and another friend were screamed as we glided over some wet cobblestones around lots of pedestrians
• The two (separate) times my front passengers screamed and gripped the dashboard as I took a little longer to brake than they'd expected, turing into a petrol station.
• Playing my folk music LOUD in Wimbledon high street next to a convertible who was previous pumping som drum'n'bass.
• quickfind:1750s calling out "...and...Clench!" as we went over speed bumps.
• Taking Miss Jason home having dropped off quickfind:midler and getting utterly lost in Reading.
• Trying to find Stonehenge in the middle of the night and not realising we'd passed right by it twice.
• Braking harshly and nearly having the wedding cake Mum had just made for my aunt all over the back footwells.
• Breaking down at a vital junction on the A4 in the middle of the night with no electronics and hence no hazard lights.

And plenty more ...

*sigh*

So I've got a month or so out of it yet but I shan't be going on any long journeys. Better top up my Oyster card.

I nearly always go for nearly new now - up to about 6 months old. Technically they are second hand, but they are exactly the same as the brand-new one I'd get (with maybe a bit more milage on it, but meh!).

I've saved about 20% (or more) over list price in the past :)

I need to look at finance deals before anything. I hadn't considered nearly-new.

The Mazda2 is over 6 months old now so will have a look around for deals.

Oh, if it's any consolation I have free RAC breakdown cover.

Even though I can't drive.

Dare I ask what Noodle was doing to put foot prints on the back window of his old car?

(Or should that be who Noodle was doing.... :P)

If I buy a new car it'll be the footprints of F&F shoes.

I also have RAC cover - though I've already used 2 out of 3 call-outs!
