Hi Guys,

I have recently been unlucky enough to have 2 parking tickets slapped on my car because my permit fell off the windscreen. This is a total fine of £170 to park in a space that was allocated to me anyway! (It is a private resident's car park). I know I was technically in the wrong for not showing the permit, but this was an innocent mistake and I now have a private ticketing firm chasing me.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice as to how to proceed. I hope a long, drawn out dispute won't be necessary, but I feel like I shouldn't let myself be bullied into paying a charge which I think is unfair and pointless. At the moment I am all for figthing this to the end.

I have already appealed against the tickets, enclosing a copy of my permit but this was swiftly rejected. I wasn't surprised by this - since the tickets are issued by a private company aiming to maximise profits, they would never have any reason to accept an appeal.

I am in the process of writing the next letter to them, more or less rejecting their rejection of the appeal. I suspect they will threaten court action next. Does anyone have any good ideas as to what might scare them off? And that won't get me into more trouble? ;-) Any help / suggestions much appreciated.
