If this Government is serious about stimulating the recovery of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island (No Longer Great or United in my eyes), then one of the easiest and very popular measures it can take, is to abolish Value Added Tax on Petrol and Diesel. It will still get the Income from the Fuel Duty, but it will immediately bring the cost of a Litre substantially back towards a Pound, and also have the knock on effect of reducing food & goods costs, as it will be cheaper to transport. Less cost to the public purse as well as less companies will be driven out of business due to reduced fuel costs. cheaper for the NHS, Police and Fire service as it will be cheaper to RUN the Vehicles that are Vital to their work. More money in the publics pockets, so they can spend it in shops, so those business will prosper. But will they do it? Of course not, because this government knows that the most likely outcome is only one term in government, before we kick them out again and put labour back in, so why should they care about a recovery!
