photoStudent again, professional singer and Madame Arcati all in one, juggling fascinating outer and inner lives, half a team with the lovely John who is a true source of joy. Would love to meet friends to join me (or us) on country walks, Saturday brunches at home and unconventional outings. Humour, tease-ability and depth a must, fear of change a distinct disadvantage. Affirming messages and shameless flattery always welcome.

I'm looking for a nice big solid estate car. It has to take my massage table without folding down the back seats or removing the load cover.

I want:
- an automatic
- something inexpensive to buy (around 3k tops)
- reliability
- affordable replacement parts
- aircon
- low noise levels on the motorway

I would like:
- cruise control
- a sunroof
- leather seats
- not to be bankrupted by the fuel costs

Running costs unfortunately rule out any BMW/Merc models that would be modern enough to fulfil my other criteria.
I've been looking at Passat, Omega and Mondeo - though oddly enough, the Omega seems to be far, far better value for money, as the other two are so popular.

I'm going also to see two Peugeot 407 estates - one 2 litre and one 3 litre this afternoon. My last Peugeot was a 104 - I'm not sure about this. Anyone have an experience of a 407?

What other estate cars might I consider?
