photoLooking for friends, cursed.....by ....well shyness! That doesn't mean I sit on my laurels or I'm desperate. I've always been both independent and proactive. It's just an uphill struggle at times. I've a good heart and mind. I've built up protective walls over the years. Could do with help dismantling them. Don't be another bRICK..if you are you'll miss a good friend.

I admit it I'm hopeless where cars are concerned. I'm in need of ideas. I'm having some problems with my lower back and left hip (due to an old accident) and although I'm having physio it is particularly aggravated by driving and I really need to consider changing my car. I drive on average 1 to 2 hrs daily in my job.

My current car is a peugeot 206 1.1. I've had it a year and never liked it. I got a small car because it is good for driving around town and parking (I have to park in awkward places sometimes with my job) but at 1.1 it's really too small an engine for me and for that reason alone I was considering changing anyway. I don't want to get into too high a tax bad and do try hard to consider the environment. I do have a liking for 5 door hatch backs.

I've never driven an auotomatic but my Dr is asking me to consider it. I'm 6' tall which isn't that tall but I clearly need a car that accomodates a better seating position whilst at the same time doesn't thrust my head up to the roof or have me the top of the wind screen in a line with my eyes. Something I sometimes do find (thus a higher windscreen would be great). I've never driven a diesel car but again I'm considering (with the environment in mind - though I understand thoughts on this are mixed at present and it is really down to how many miles/gallon).

I can only really talk in terms of second hand. Perhaps up to about £7,000 mark.

Anyone had similar experience who could offer me some suggestions? thanks in advance for any help.
Chris
