photoStudent again, professional singer and Madame Arcati all in one, juggling fascinating outer and inner lives, half a team with the lovely John who is a true source of joy. Would love to meet friends to join me (or us) on country walks, Saturday brunches at home and unconventional outings. Humour, tease-ability and depth a must, fear of change a distinct disadvantage. Affirming messages and shameless flattery always welcome.

Hello folks

Sorry to bore you with more housemove perambulations - but you didn't have to click on this!

I'm wondering about moving back to London. I have to be in Oxford at 9am on weekday mornings for the next couple of years, so it has to be in reach of the M4 or M40. And my budget is £250,000.

I'm going to need a kitchen-diner (or a room to eat in) and a separate large room to work in, as well as 1 or 2 bedrooms. (I can hear you hooting with laughter already, but I've not finished...)
I was thinking maybe a garden flat, as I'd like some garden - the more the better, in fact - and I need to keep my motorbike off the road. In an ideal world, I'd like a garage. And decent public transport within walking distance.

My large reception room should be at least 16' by at least 8'6", but that is really a minimum.

I've thought about parts of Ealing, though I was looking in Ealing Common yesterday and the prices were impossible. (Nice Japanese food, though.)

I don't know Northolt, Ruislip, much of Hillingdon or thereabouts, nor do I really know Brentford or Isleworth well. But I'd like to be well clear of hoodies, shell suits, heavy traffic noise and social deprivation; and reasonably close to good public transport and some juicy green nature.

So, a nice pad with a miraculously large garden and living room, a kitchen diner, a garage and my own private tube station, somewhere around Uxbridge or Ealing. Piece of cake, huh?

Suggestions please...

I don't know Greenford at all: tell me about it. Is it grim? Is it green? ;-)

You don't get much for the money, but there's one possiblity on Rightmove.
The map doesn't show the location of the tube stops.

I'm not really looking for a social life there, but is it reasonably yob-free?

Don't be sorry. I'd rather know than not know! But I do want to live somewhere fairly yob-free...
