I've just had BT Broadband activated on my line, which also carries the BT Redcare signal from my alarm system to the monitoring centre.

Since the broadband has been activated, my landline "chirps" at one second intervals, making my landline impossible to use, thus having to make all my calls over my BT Hub phone, which, while I don't really mind, but should I be paying line rental for a fixed line that I can't use?

Having done a bit of research, it seems that I may require a MDC (Modem Compatibility Device) to be put on the line, which may lessen or stop the constant chirping.

I've spoken to both landline and broadband faults at BT, who say there's noting wrong with either service, but they don't seem to appreciate the problem I'm facing.

This didn't happen before the BTInternet was installed, so I'm wondering if any fellow Outers who either work for BT, or who install monitored alarm systems might be able to offer a solution to stop the chirping before I throw the whole thing out of the window :)

Before anyone asks, I did check with BT about compatibility before having the broadband installed, and they said it would be OK.

Thanks in advance for any advice or help.
