For the last few months I have been going to a yoga class and find it surprisingly good. All my aching bits feel much better the next morning.

Anyone else interested in yoga?

I'd love to go to yoga, but Im' looking for a class for complete beginners and that isn't bloody miles away from home!

I enjoy Hatha yoga as I do some of that at home. I also do a bit of Kundalini yoga too....

I'll stick to Pilates, its less strenuous.

Isn't pilates just another form of yoga? So says the wonderful Audrey, my yoga teacher...

The form we do is not that strenuous, more just extreme stretching and lots of balancing (sometimes easier than others)

Sorry Alun, it's a wee bit far from Blackheath to Birmingham...I think the kind of yogo we do is Iyenga, but don't quote me on that, am still learning

Will, its sort off, but the key of Yoga is to stretch the muscles from the outside to give lengthening, the point of pilates is that it concentrates on strengthening the muscles from inside and giving them strength.

quoting > "Blackheath to Birmingham" LOL aye story of my life! I've heard that there's a new class starting in Blackheath for beginners so I'll go have a look at that I think.

I find yoga good exercise, as well as being good for balancing energy... I usually feel physically tired, but alert and very fresh (if that makes sense!)

Thanks Cole, I love the way that descriptions in or about yoga seem to use language of inner and outer body...it has taken me four months to figure out what my inner shins are!!! Even longer how to lift them.

Am just getting used to stretching my muscles and think that strengthening will come at some distant point.

I agree Alun...always feel better afterwards and always know if i miss a class - my muscles ache and miss that stretching feeling.

Good luk with the new class...it took me a few tries over the years to find a class where I didn't feel odd or the wrong shape or sex or inexperienced.
