I go on a fasting meditation retreat once a year. It starts on friday, when after lunch there is nothing to eat, but we can still drink water. There is no eating or drinking on saturday. Then sunday morning there is water again, and the fast is broken at lunchtime with a meal. There is meditation and pujas throughout, some of which are in silence. It can be very hard work, but always worth it. |
