#89298Wed 26/12/07 18:47		I bought my bf an iPod Touch for Xmas, but whenever it connects to the iMac (the one with the half-globe base) it causes iTunes to crash. Repeated messages about being Unable to Sync appear, or, if it does Sync, after about 40 song transfers the whole thing crashes. Could it be because of the USB? Or could it be the actual iPod? (I find that unlikely, as setting up the browser etc. was easy, and surfing worked like a dream).
skinnydipperWed 26/12/07 18:53		Do you need to update the Operating System / iTunes? It says on the website that it needs OS 10.4.10 or later & iTunes 7.4 or later... Good luck!

#89298Fri 28/12/07 21:54		I think it's down to the USB port. Ours is 1.0, and the iPhone Touch is only compatible with USB 2.0. Or something. It's a foreign language to me.
#89298Fri 11/01/08 19:02		Are Apple forums generally hostile? I posted that I was having issues with the iPod and was really surprised at the tone of the replies, so I have retreated from discussing Apple issues on Apple forums. The entire problem with the iPod touch was simply the USB port. I feel a bit disappointed that Apple have effectively made my iPod Touch incompatible with my iMac - which is four years old (I know, ancient, technology-wise, but still entirely working). Of course, I know now the significance of USB 1.0 and 2.0, but before I had no idea that the standard had been changed. I managed to get most of my music on the iPod - it took about a week, and everything about it is lovely, but feel that Apple could have used Firewire or something to ensure that those of us who can't upgrade their computer that often can still use their other nice things.
