I downloaded the new cs3 trials on to my Macbook. It worked fine at first, until a few days in to the trial, I couldn't load illustrator at all, it would crash at start up when loading the plugins. I didn't install any plugins so that was strange.

I managed to find the plugin causing the crash and removed it. However now when I try to open a file in either Photoshop or Illustrator the application quits instantly.

I checked the error log and I get some sweatpea bullshit that doesn't make any sense.

I've removed my pref folders etc and still no joy. I manually updated bridge, still no joy. I tried to manually update version cue but that fails half way through.

This is seriously pissing me off, I keep losing my work and I can't find a solution online, just hundreds of people asking the same question.

Any suggestions?

Argghhhhh :o)

Are you still using the trial stuff or have you gone back to your original versions?

Well I know that a lot of people have reported problems with the trials of CS3 - though not sure if anyone's found a cure yet.

Try www.macfixit.com - that's a good place to get advice on this sort of stuff.

But, in all honesty, you can't really complain if trial software doesn't work because it's basically a freebie......

But the trial is the full product. I'm just limited to 30 days usage. The software in no way differs from the full version. That's why I have the option to enter a reg key to register the software.

The idea of the trial, is to try a product before you buy it. In this case, it's not exactly cheap and I'd not fork out for software I can't really use.

from my experience CS3 REALLY complains if there's previous versions on the system, bizarrely. I bet you that if you uninstall ps cs3 ,then re-install the cs3 trial, it would work.

but thats a bit of a pain to try it out, I know.

and you're right, the cs3 packages cost an absolute fortune in this country.
