I've just got back from the UK premiere of Iron Man...and can honestly say that it's the best superhero movie I've seen in a long while! quickfind:steve.n19 , quickfind:kiwi.fruit , and quickfind:markypuppy also thoroughly enjoyed it...and it was good to have them there. So thank you once again :)

Right...on with my little review...

When I first heard of this project..I admit I was a tad dubious.. But then Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges joined the cast...and that made me think that this could potentially be a hit!

Your average superhero movie these days features young actors who are almost unknown, and poor storylines! But this movie gave a more 'experienced' feel to it, and that's just by looking at the cast list.

Speaking of storylines...this one tells the story of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), a billionaire industrialist and head of a powerful weapons manufacturing company, who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon for a group of terrorists in the Middle-East.

Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and manages to escape captivity. Upon his return to America, Tony must come to terms with his past, and begins to wonder how he could undo some of the damage that the weapons his company caused. Jeff Bridges plays Obadiah Stane...a man who once supported Tony...but can't quite get to grips with the new company regime, and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Of course...no superhero story would be complete without a love interest, and that is very satisfactorily played by the lovely Gwyneth Paltrow (who stars as Virginia "Pepper" Potts).

In my own personal view..I think it's fantastic that a movie project like this has a strong cast, especially ones who have had solid acting experiences. I believe the film was carefully balanced with getting to know the characters...and also the explosions and fight scenes.

Will there be a sequel? Very likely, as there are a couple of clues buried in the movie :)

Once again...every actor gave a good performance, and this is definitely one of Robert Downey Jr.'s best work in the last few years!

Roll on Iron Man 2!! IF they keep the same cast (albeit without one - which i'm not saying who!)
